Baby blanket finished!

Big reveal time!
I finally finished the diagonal granny baby blanket I was working on for my friend, Cathy.
A few fast facts about this chocolate-hued beauty...
  • Because Mom and Dad are being all hush hush about the gender, she decided to go with a neutral palette of her own favourite colours, i.e. any shade of brown!
  • I personally loathe brown, but I think this blanket may have changed my thinking. Generous dashes of caramel, coffee, and cream stripes have made this a delight to work on, and though it dragged on a bit towards the end, I LOVED it by the time I was done. I now want one for my own bed!
  • Dimensions: approximately 42inches by 36inches.
  • With such warm stripes, I only needed a simple 2 row border of single crochet sticthes to finish.
  • I killed the border with a wet towel and a steam iron. for more information on "killing" acrylic yarn, see my post here
  • The blanket, a few hours old...

And here it is, in all it's glory...

Well, its glory is slightly diminished by the bad lighting and the fact that I took the photo at night indoors, but you get the general idea (you should still ooh! and aah! This took me a few days to finish!)

In fact, I've fallen so hard, and so fast for this chocolate blanket, that i just had to make it the blog header....we can go back to the torquoise couch next week, thanks very much!
And if you feel inspired enough by the gorgeous mix of retro (granny stitches) and modern (diagonal) to try making this yourself, please see this blog to learn how. I got the idea from her, did some calculations, and started hooking away!
Peace and blessings!
